Fingerless gloves

Together with a lovely knitted hat (which I will upload a bit later), these fingerless gloves were gifted to my sisters and brother-in-law last Christmas. I am rather proud of these beauties. The pattern was Lisa Beamer’s “Fast and Easy Fingerless Mitts,” which can be found here. I also made myself a pair of these in my favorite Punta yarn.
Colorimetry

Knitted headbands, referred to by my friend Bev as “Colorimetry”, are so much fun to knit and to wear. Here are some photos of some headbands I knitted last fall for the cool months here in the Northeast.
Susie Hoodie – Current Project

I am currently working on
the Susie Hoodie, a long, hooded sweater-hoodie from More Big Girl Knits by Jilian Moreno and Amy Singer. The pattern is by
Mandy Moore.
I initially was going to make this pattern in red, similar to the book’s color, going for a “Little Red Riding Hood” cloak. But the only red I had in my stash was chunky Lion’s Brand Homespun. I am a very tight knitter, so the cables on the pattern were quite hard to accomplish with a chunky yarn on small needles. I switched to Plymouth Yarn’s Encore in a woodland green (color 0668). I’m hoping for a Lord of the Rings “elvish cloak” type finished product.
I had some initial issues with the cable pattern, which looked so luscious in the book’s photo but was looking quite dreadful when I tried to do it. Turns out I was reading the pattern left to right rather than right to left. I figured out my mistake after I had gotten to the increases in the lower waist part of the sweater, and frogged it all. I am now just starting the decreases again, but the cabling looks correct this time.
This is my first attempt at garment “construction” – the most difficult thing I have done up to this point is a pair of fingerless gloves. So, several set-backs are to be expected.
